Intro: How to Add Followers on Twitter

add followers on twitter

Have you noticed a bit of a trend here at my blog?  Maybe a focus on Twitter?  Getting retweets and getting more followers

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ve probably noticed that I have been talking a lot about the quality of your followers, and about the idea of getting targeted followers.

You might almost think that my view is that quality is more important than quantity.

The quality of your following is critical.  Having 500 quality, targeted followers is indeed better than 10,000 followers who aren’t interested in your product or service at all.

But of course – the more followers you have, the more you’re being seen people who could be interested in what you have to offer.  Get seen by more people who need your offerings, and your business grows.

Quality of followers versus quantity of followers.  Is it an either/or thing?   Absolutely not!  There are many self-proclaimed experts who tell you it’s “numbers only” or “quality only”.  I’m here to tell you that BOTH matter and you can intentionally attract both.  And it’s not as hard as you might think.

I’ve written an eBook called 13 Ways to Get More Twitter Followers.  The book details systematic, proven strategies to find and add followers on Twitter.

And I’m so convinced of the importance of growing your list of targeted Twitter followers that I’m starting a mini-series based on my eBook to get you started on the path to add followers on Twitter.

Each of my next 5 blog posts is going to cover one of the steps from my eBook.  Not to be a tease, but for the rest of the 8 tips after that, you’ll just have to check out the book and see for yourself.  But in this blog series, we’ll be covering the following tips to help you add followers on Twitter.

5 Tips to Add Followers on Twitter:

#1 – Completing Your Profile:  Incomplete profiles scream that you just don’t care about your business.  Is that the message you’re sending?

#2 – Add Yourself to Twitter Directories:  Don’t wait for people to somehow find you!  Put yourself in the midst of where they’re looking!

#3 – Promote Yourself When Possible:  There’s a right way and a wrong way, but promote yourself when you can!

#4 – Follow Quality People:  Like attracts like, after all!

#5 – Tweet Content Worthy of Devotion:  Tweet content that people just want to make go viral!

Each post, I’ll go into depth detailing one of these tips.  You’ll receive a concrete step you can take immediately to boost both the quality and quantity of your Twitter followers.

In each day’s post in the series, I’ll give you some background so you understand how it works and why it’s an important step.  I’ll give examples.  And I’ll cover step-by-step instructions so you are comfortable from start to finish and know with confidence that you can do it!

  1. Thank you for taking this post to new heights…i.e. explaining each of the five steps. I was going to ask a question about step number 2. Instead I'll just return weekly to find your next post and the answers to my questions about Twitter.

      • Great post, thanks Edmund and so very helpful. As a (slightly) older user of social media, I have struggled to learn how to best use it, but have been terrifically impressed with the difference it makes and some of the opportunities it has given me. I have yet to fully understand Twitter, but will now spend some time wrapping my head around it – I guess I’d better work out Hootsuite as well. !

  10. If people would just do #1, they'd be amazed at the results. I will not follow someone who doesn't fill out their profile.

  12. I love your focus on Twitter Edmund, and am really looking forward to this series. Twitter is one of my favorite social media networks, and I'm always looking for ways to use it more effectively. I think I'm most interested in your advice on how to promote yourself the RIGHT way. I'm not good at that at all ~ I'm too afraid of chasing people away.
