How to Optimize Your Profile And Get More Pinterest Followers

Get More Pinterest Followers

So you’ve gotten your Pinterest profile set up, you’ve started a bunch of boards, and you’re happily pinning away.  Maybe you’ve even built up a sizeable following.  But have you ever stopped to wonder if there’s a more strategic way to use Pinterest?

The answer is yes.  The power of this highly addictive social media phenomenon can be leveraged.  You can increase social referrals, create additional revenue, and even raise your search ranking with a few key tips.

Optimize Pinterest Profile – “About”

This is the first place people read more about you and your brand.  Make sure to be engaging.  Describe your reason for being on Pinterest, but  be sure to choose keywords that your target customer might use in searching for the product or service you provide.  If you want to get more Pinterest followers, you should know that your customers’ ability to find you by using the search window is only as good as the accuracy of your keywords.

Optimize your Pinterest Profile – Social Linking

Linking your Pinterest profile to your other social profiles is a natural way to allow followers to experience more of what your brand offers.  It also is a great way to increase your quality and quantity of interaction on your other social media profiles and ultimately get more Pinterest followers.

Optimize Pinterest Pin Board Titles

Pinterest sets a variety of pin board titles as defaults.  To get more Pinterest followers in your field of business, be sure to edit these – and any boards you create – to reflect keywords in your niche.  The titles of your pin boards should reflect your product offerings, services, and anything else that people might search on to find your company.

Optimize Pinterest Pin Board Categories

Each Pinterest pin board can be assigned to a category reflecting its content.  Don’t forget to use it.  Choosing an appropriate category for your pin board helps it to be found by people who might not be familiar with the particular keywords you selected in your pin board or pin descriptions.

Optimize Pinterest Pin Board Descriptions

After selecting appropriate titles for your pin boards that reflect your product or service, it’s time to write a more detailed description of your pin boards.  Again – to get more Pinterest followers, choose keywords that apply to your niche market.  Make sure the keywords you select in your description are connected to your product or service.  Use keywords and choose them well.  Be creative, but keep it short.  Use this space wisely.  Don’t be redundant.

Optimize your Pinterest Profile:  Pin Image Descriptions

Each time you pin an image to your Pinterest profile, you have an opportunity to describe the image.  This is a rich way to enhance the search engine optimization of your Pinterest profile.  Consider the descriptions carefully and include quality search phrases in your descriptions.  Be wise in your choice of descriptions but keep it short and to the point.

Optimizing your profile to get more Pinterest followers is an essential part of an overall social media strategy for any brand.  Your profile should be search engine optimized, should link back to and should promote your brand’s website.  Increase the value of your pins and pin boards with search phrases that are high quality and low competition. This, along with audience engagement through liking and repining pins, is a proven strategy to get more Pinterest followers, which will drive more traffic to your site and build your brand.
