Connect to Your Blog

Pin This!

Do you have a business blog?  Using a compelling graphic on every blog post plus using a Pin-This button on your blog is one of the easiest and best answers to the question, “How Do I use Pinterest To Grow My Business.”  When you pin the graphic on Pinterest, it links back to your blog.  Every time someone clicks on that pin, they’ll be taken to the image’s original source – your blog.

Follow Me on Pinterest!

The Follow Me Button, when added to your blog and posts, allows people to connect with you on Pinterest.  It’s an easy way to get more people following your boards and re-pinning your content.

Featured Pins

A number of new plugins are being developed for blogs, including plugins that let you feature your latest pins right on your blog!

Content Marketing

One of the most creative ways to answer the question, “How do I use Pinterest to grow my business” centers around the way Pinterest lets you leverage your content marketing.  Do you have topics that would be easy to develop a video series around?  Can you create infographics to explain a concept better?   Adding visual interest to your content marketing increases its impact.  Putting it in an image that can be shared as quickly as it can on Pinterest is an easy way to maximize the number of people who will view your content and engage with your brand.

Wanna Play a Game?

A number of brands have answered the question, “How do I use Pinterest to grow my business” in surprisingly creative ways, including games and contests.  For instance, when Peugeot Panama unveiled a new model, they created a Pinterest contest that took traffic from Pinterest to their blog and had people pinning and re-pinning

They created a board with a picture of the new model with several tiles missing.  Those missing tiles were located on their company’s website.  To win the contest, people had to search the company’s website for the missing pieces and then pin the missing tiles to their own boards.

This created a huge number of links in to the Peugeot Panama site each time the new content was pinned to users boards from the Peugeot Panama site.  In maximizing your website’s content to be found by search engines, increasing inbound links is one of the ways to boost your site’s visibility to Google.  So in increasing their inbound links and getting pictures of their products all over Pinterest, they benefitted in multiple ways from their Pinterest promotion.

The question, “How do I use Pinterest to grow my business” has been answered in as many different ways as there are businesses using Pinterest.  The best way to get ideas is to jump on the site, start following, pinning, and re-pinning!

  8. Hey These are great tips! I didn't know about any "featured pins" plugins. Do you recommend one in particular? Would it create it's own blog post out of a pin? I guess I like the idea of creating an infographic using it as one of the graphics inside a particular blog post and then posting that photo linking to the post. I am honestly terrible at using pinterest. I get hung up on where to find the photos. Thanks for your tips.

  14. Great tips Edmund.  I never heard of Pin This.  I have some features you mentioned here, but not this one.  Also a "graphic" is a picture?  Just want to create more buzz.  Do we pin as soon as we create blog to pinterest to get google to see it or whenever?  Can you please send me a dm on this besides answering here. I want to make sure I get your note.

    • Hey Carol, for the “Pin This” button, it’s the same thing as the “Pin It” button located in the ‘Share Feature’ for your blog. I’ll go ahead and send you a DM for the rest of the responses.
